Libra Chiropractic Clinic introduced Libra Pilates classes in Woodley in April 2016 as a vision of Trudi and Debbie’s to provide rehabilitation and strengthening as a follow on to chiropractic treatment.
Our classes are at The Oakwood Centre in The Miles Suite, RG5 4JZ on Tuesday mornings and in the Upper Hall, Christchurch, Crockhamwell Road, Woodley RG5 3LA on Thursdays. Our instructor, Caroline, is excellent and is always very aware of individual areas of pain or concern. She adapts classes to meet all needs. No class will ever have more than 10 in total as we believe that clients deserve maximum attention in order to progress with safety and to achieve progress.
Pilates is a relaxing and enjoyable form of exercise. It is a series of body conditioning exercises that look to build flexibility, muscle strength and endurance. The exercises look to place emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing and developing a stronger core or centre. Muscles become stronger as you control your body through each move. Over the duration of the classes, the progressive exercises aim to improve your muscle tone, flexibility, posture and balance.
The Stotts and Body Control are both classified as contemporary Pilates. Contemporary Pilates is a modern version based on the original work of Joseph and Cara Pilates with continual development and thus may be varied using small props such as the ball and resistance bands. This method of Pilates has resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise, science and rehabilitation with attentiveness to spinal injuries.
The programme is based on the individual needs and goals of clients, making it safer, more effective and applicable to a wider audience. Results can be amazing for individuals and our clients have given excellent feedback saying how Pilates has improved their life immeasurably.
